Product description
Some dogs are wired to move things. Collies, heelers, anything bred to work stock, and without an outlet that instinct lands on bicycles, children or the vacuum cleaner. A herding ball gives it somewhere legitimate to go. The dog noses and chases a ball too big to pick up, which is precisely the point: it cannot be carried off and settled with, so the game keeps moving until the dog runs out of steam.
The shell is a tough double layer built to take teeth, and it is designed to deflate slowly rather than pop if it is punctured, so one stray canine does not end the session on the spot. A zippered cap covers the inflation valve and keeps it out of the way while the dog plays. It works best on grass with room to run; on a hard surface the shell takes far more abrasion than it needs to.
- 45cm (17.7 inch) inflatable ball, too big for a dog to pick up
- Tough double-layer bite-resistant shell
- Slow-deflates if punctured rather than bursting
- Zippered cap over the inflation valve
- Taps natural chasing and nudging instincts
- Shipped tracked to the UK, typically 7 to 12 days
- Covered by our 30-day returns promise
Two things worth knowing. And bite-resistant is not chew-proof: this is a supervised chase toy, not something to leave out in the garden.
Who it's for: Owners of collies, heelers and other high-drive dogs who need to push something around a field rather than herd the family.
Why we chose it
Collies and heelers are wired to move things, and without an outlet that instinct lands on bicycles and children. The ball is deliberately too big to pick up, so the game never settles. Supervised, and not left out in the garden.

Common questions
How big is it?
45cm across once inflated — about 17.7 inches — and roughly 790g.
Which dogs is 45cm right for?
Medium and large dogs from about 10kg up: big enough that a collie or labrador cannot get their jaws round it. For a small dog under about 10kg, choose a 25cm herding ball instead.
What happens if it gets punctured?
The shell is built to deflate slowly rather than burst, so the session does not end on the spot. Take it away once it is losing air and keep play supervised.
What size is it?
45cm across (about 17.7 inches), inflated. Every measurement we hold for this product is in the specifications above.
How big or heavy is it?
About 790g, according to the manufacturer’s specification.

Which size is right for a Border Collie?
The 45cm for most. A typical Border Collie is 14–20kg, so 45cm is the right ball: too big to get their jaws round, and light enough to push. One size covers the whole breed. Bred to move stock, so most take to a herding ball in the first session.
Which size is right for a Cocker Spaniel?
The 45cm for most. A typical Cocker Spaniel is 13–14.5kg, so 45cm is the right ball: too big to get their jaws round, and light enough to push. One size covers the whole breed. Chasers rather than shovers; keep the first sessions short and it holds their interest.
Which size is right for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier?
The 45cm for most. A typical Staffordshire Bull Terrier is 11–17kg, so 45cm is the right ball: too big to get their jaws round, and light enough to push. One size covers the whole breed. Terriers bite before they push — if they get any grip on it at all, go up a size.
Which size is right for a Jack Russell Terrier?
The 45cm for most. A typical Jack Russell Terrier is 5–6kg, which puts them on a 25cm ball. 45cm is the closest this one comes in — a size up, which still works, it is just more to push. One size covers the whole breed. Terriers bite before they push — if they get any grip on it at all, go up a size.
Which size is right for a Miniature Dachshund?
The 45cm for most. A typical Miniature Dachshund is 4–5.5kg, which puts them on a 25cm ball. 45cm is the closest this one comes in — a size up, which still works, it is just more to push. One size covers the whole breed. Hounds are chasers, and a ball they can never catch keeps them going.
Which size is right for a Cockapoo?
The 45cm for most. A typical Cockapoo is 5–11kg, which puts them on a 25cm ball. 45cm is the closest this one comes in — a size up, which still works, it is just more to push. The breed runs 5–11kg and crosses a size step, so go by your own dog — smaller, up to 9kg: the 45cm; larger, over 9kg: the 45cm.
