Most dogs and cats meet a toothbrush as the second step in dental care, not the first — the finger brush usually comes before it, easing the animal into having something in their mouth before a proper brush ever appears.

This is that second step: a soft-bristled brush head recommended by veterinary surgeons for daily brushing of cats' and dogs' teeth, designed so the soft bristles protect enamel rather than wear at it. Hatchwells position it for use alongside their own DentiFresh Toothpaste, once a pet is already comfortable with a finger brush.

• Single toothbrush
• Soft-bristled head, designed to protect tooth enamel
• Recommended by veterinary surgeons for daily brushing
• Suitable for both cats and dogs
• Intended as the step up once a pet is used to a finger brush
• Made for use with Hatchwells DentiFresh Toothpaste

What the label does not say. Hatchwell don't publish what the bristles themselves are made from, so beyond "soft" there's no further material detail to pass on, and no guidance on how often to replace the brush as it wears.

Who it's for: owners moving a dog or cat on from a finger brush to a proper toothbrush, ready to start a daily cleaning routine.
