A dog that dreads bath time doesn't stop needing to look presentable in between, which is where a dry powder rather than water and shampoo earns its place in the grooming kit.

Hatchwells' Chalk Powder is exactly what it says: chalk, used to dry-clean an animal's coat and bring up its shine without any water involved. It's meant for use between full baths, or on animals that dislike being bathed altogether, and groomers use the same powder when hand stripping a coat.

• 450g tub
• Made from chalk
• Dry-cleaning powder — no water needed
• Brings up shine in the coat
• Useful between baths, or for animals that dislike bathing
• Also used by groomers when hand stripping

What the label does not say. Hatchwells don't give a guide amount to use or a follow-up step like brushing it out on the information supplied — it's described as a dry-cleaning powder rather than a wash, with the practical detail left to you or a groomer's own routine. Being chalk, expect a pale residue if it's overapplied to a dark coat.

Who it's for: owners of dogs that dislike bathing, or anyone wanting to freshen a coat's shine between full baths without reaching for water.
