Reading the front of a bag is rarely enough to know what's actually in a food, and this is a good example of why — the meat content here is more layered than the name on the front suggests.

Harringtons Adult Dog Turkey is built around "Turkey and Meat Meals" at 28% of the recipe, which breaks down as 7% dried turkey and 4% freshly prepared chicken, with the remainder unspecified meat meal. The rest of the recipe is maize, barley, oats (6.5%), rice (5.6%), peas (4%), chicken fat (3%) and an omega blend of salmon oil, vegetable oil and linseed (1.8%). Analysis gives 21% protein, 10% fat, 3% crude fibre and 8.5% crude ash, and it's a 100% complete dry food for dogs aged 8 weeks and over that can be fed alone or mixed with wet food.

On the name. "Adult Dog Turkey" suggests turkey is the headline ingredient, but of the 28% turkey and meat meals, only 7% is specifically dried turkey — the rest is 4% freshly prepared chicken and an unnamed meat meal making up the balance. It's a genuine turkey-containing food, just not a turkey-majority one.

Who it's for: owners of dogs aged 8 weeks and up who want a complete dry food with a turkey component and a clear feeding guide by weight, rather than a single-named-protein diet.
