Full description
Nobody teaches a dog to pull. It arrives already convinced that the pace of a walk is its own business, and the lead is the only object in the world that disagrees with it. Dr Roger Mugford's insight when he designed the first headcollar was that arguing with the shoulders is a fight you lose on weight, and that if you guide the head the body has very little choice but to come along.
That is what this does. It sits on the head rather than the neck, so a pull turns into a gentle change of direction instead of a tug of war. The webbing is nylon, chosen to be strong without being heavy, and the nose band is padded with neoprene. Halti make the point that it is designed not to interfere with panting, eating or drinking, and they recommend pairing it with their own double-clip training lead for the full effect. It comes in six sizes, numbered 0 to 5, and in black or red.
