Full description

Most treats sold as "chicken" are chicken-flavoured rather than chicken-made, so the actual meat content is worth checking before the price on the bag decides it for you.

These bones are made mostly of the thing they're named after: chicken breast is 65% of the recipe, with rice, tapioca starch and pea protein making up the rest. Good Boy add vegetable glycerin to keep the texture soft rather than rock-hard, and colourants are the only additive listed.

100G pack
Chicken breast 65%, rice 21%
Crude protein 36%, fat 2.5%, fibre 1%, ash 3.5%, moisture 15%
Should not exceed 10% of a dog's daily calorie intake
Not suitable for puppies under 4 months old
Give under supervision, on a surface that won't stain

On the surface note. Good Boy specifically say to give these on a non-stainable surface, which is a fair warning that the chicken and glycerin content can leave a mark - worth knowing before it goes on a light-coloured carpet rather than after.

Who it's for: owners of dogs over 4 months old who want a treat with real chicken as the main ingredient rather than a flavouring, and don't mind supervising a chew.

Why we chose it

Sixty-five percent actual chicken breast is a genuinely high figure for a treat at this price, and it's the number that decided it for us. Fat is also low at 2.5%, so it's one you can give without it undoing a diet.
