Full description

A dog chewing through a rawhide bone is working through collagen, not meat, whatever flavour is printed on the front of the bag.

This one is rawhide and rice starch, with colourants and beef flavouring added for taste - there's no actual beef in the composition. The 83% protein figure comes from the rawhide itself rather than from any meat content, which is worth knowing if you assumed a high protein number meant a meaty treat.

Composition: rawhide, rice starch
Beef flavouring and colourants added, no beef meat listed
Crude protein 83%, fat content 3.5%
Crude fibre 4%, crude ash 5%, moisture 14%
450G bag

On the name. Beef Bone describes the flavour, not an ingredient - the composition is rawhide and rice starch, with beef flavouring rather than beef itself. The 83% protein is genuine, but it's collagen protein from the rawhide rather than meat protein, and the two aren't nutritionally the same thing.

Who it's for: Owners wanting a long-lasting rawhide chew at a bulk-pack price, rather than anyone specifically looking to add beef meat to their dog's diet.

Common questions

Does it actually contain beef?

No. The composition is rawhide and rice starch, with beef flavouring and colourants added - no beef meat is listed.

Why is the protein figure so high if there's no meat?

The 83% crude protein comes from the rawhide itself, which is a collagen-based material, rather than from meat.

What's in the bag?

450G of rawhide chews, flavoured beef.

Is it just one big bone or several pieces?

The card doesn't state a piece count, just the total pack weight of 450G.

Good Boy Beef Bone

Why we chose it

This is a straightforward bulk pack at a price that makes sense for a dog that gets through chews quickly, and being upfront that beef here means flavouring rather than meat matters more on a treat than on most things we sell. The 83% protein figure is real, it's just not the kind of protein the name implies.
