How to measure
- Wrap a soft tape around the base of the neck.
- Add room for two fingers between the tape and the neck.
- Use that measurement to pick a size whose range it falls within.

By four o'clock in the afternoon in December, a black dog twenty metres away is effectively invisible. This is the small, cheap fix: a 6.3cm silicone pendant that clips onto the collar your dog already wears and shows light in three modes — always on, fast flash or slow flash — so you can see where he has got to and, rather more to the point, so a cyclist coming down the towpath can too.
The choice between modes matters more than it first appears. Steady on is best in an open park where you simply want to keep track of your dog across a field. A flash catches a driver's eye far more effectively near a road, because the human eye is drawn to change rather than to a constant point of light. Silicone is the sensible body material: it will not crack when it swings into a gate post and it will not scratch a collar buckle.
