Most dogs want two quite different toys: something soft to carry about the house, and something tough enough for a proper game of tug. This one tries to be both at once, and the join between them is the interesting part. The body is plush, the neck is woven cotton rope, and the rope is where the pulling and the chewing happen, so the soft half is not the part taking the punishment.

Woven cotton rope does a little dental work almost as a side effect. The strands pass between the teeth as your dog chews and drag at the soft plaque sitting along the gumline, which is no substitute for brushing but is better than nothing on a toy that was going in the mouth anyway. The plush body stays light enough to be carried from room to room and slept next to afterwards.
