Full description
A retractable lead is only as strong as the weakest point in its tape, and a determined chewer will find that point on a walk, not in a shop. Flexi's Xtreme range exists for exactly that dog — the one that grabs the tape rather than the toy.
This is an 8m tape leash using flexi's own X11-Tape, described as extremely bite resistant, rated for dogs up to 55kg. It runs through flexi's usual mechanism — an elastic soft-stop element that absorbs the jolt when the lead hits full extension, a soft-grip adjustable handle, and a braking system operated with one hand.
- 8m tape leash
- Rated for dogs up to 55kg
- flexi X11-Tape, described as extremely bite resistant
- Elastic soft-stop leash element
- Adjustable soft-grip handle
- Compatible with flexi's Multi Box and LED Lighting System accessories
On the weight given. We're not going to quote you a unit weight for this lead. The figure we hold is a shipping weight, which includes packaging, and flexi's own listing gives a different, lower number for the tape and casing alone — so neither is one we'd stand behind as "how heavy it feels in your hand."
Who it's for: owners of a strong dog up to 55kg who has previously worn through a cord lead, and who wants extension and a hand brake rather than a fixed-length walk.

Why we chose it
Bite-resistant tape is the entire reason to pay more for a flexi over a basic retractable, and Xtreme is the range built around that one problem. At 55kg it also covers genuinely large dogs, which most retractables don't.
