Size guide & how to measure

Pet coats and jumpers are sized mainly by back length, with chest girth as a second check. Back length matters most for coverage.

How to measure

Back length: measure along the spine from the base of the neck (collar area) to the base of the tail.
Chest: measure around the widest part of the ribcage, behind the front legs.
If the two measurements suggest different sizes, choose by back length and allow for the chest.

Size	Typical back length	Typical chest
XS	20–25 cm	30–40 cm
S	25–32 cm	38–50 cm
M	32–40 cm	48–62 cm
L	40–50 cm	60–76 cm
XL	50–60 cm	74–92 cm

Ranges are approximate and vary by style. Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact measurements.

Full description

If you have a spaniel you already know the routine: ears in the water bowl, ears in the gravy, ears matted with burrs after ten minutes in a hedge. A snood is the fix. It is a soft stretch tube that slips over the head and holds the ears gently back along the neck, so they stay dry, clean and out of the way until you take it off again.

The knit is ninety per cent cationic polyester with ten per cent spandex, which gives it enough stretch to go on over the head without dragging at the ears, and enough recovery to stay put rather than sagging down over the eyes halfway through a walk. It doubles as neck warmth on a cold day, and it washes and dries quickly, which it will need to — this is a garment that gets dirty on purpose.

90% cationic polyester with 10% spandex
Sizes S, M and L
Two colours: purple and blue
Pulls on over the head, no fastenings
Holds long ears back and adds neck warmth
One snood per pack

Two things worth knowing. And it is marketed as a calming or decompression hat — we would not buy it for that. A snood keeps ears clean and warm; it does not treat noise phobia, and a dog frightened of fireworks needs a plan from your vet rather than a hat.

Who it's for: Cocker and Springer Spaniels, Basset Hounds, Setters and Afghans — any dog whose ears reach the bowl before their mouth does.
