A season, an ageing bladder or a puppy who wets herself with excitement all create the same problem, and it is a problem that quietly ruins carpets and sofas. A disposable nappy contains it for the few weeks or the few months it lasts, which keeps the dog in the room with the family rather than shut in the kitchen on a towel, and that is usually the real benefit.

The shape is cut for female anatomy rather than being a unisex wrap, so the absorbent pad sits where it needs to. A soft breathable outer keeps the skin from being held against plastic, and a hook-and-loop fastening closes at the waist so the fit can be adjusted rather than pulled on and hoped for. They come in six sizes from XXS to XL and are single use, sold in packs of ten.

• Disposable, single use - Ten nappies per pack - Six sizes, XXS to XL - Shaped for female dogs - Soft breathable outer with hook-and-loop fastening - Suitable for seasons, excitable urination and incontinence

Two things worth knowing. Ten nappies will not see you through a full season, so order with that in mind rather than being caught short halfway. And change them promptly when wet: skin held against a damp nappy scalds, which is a far worse problem than the one you were solving. Measure the waist rather than going by your dog's weight, and if she is losing urine while asleep, that is worth a vet appointment rather than only a nappy.

Who it's for: Owners managing a season, a leaky senior or an excitable puppy who would rather not replace the carpet.
