Disposable Male Dog Nappies (Belly Bands)

Belly bands solve one specific problem: a male dog who marks indoors, or an older one whose bladder is no longer reliable. Because they wrap around the waist rather than pulling on like a full nappy, they cover only what needs covering and leave the back end free. Most dogs accept that far more readily than being dressed in something with leg holes and a tail opening.

Each band has an absorbent wood-pulp core that draws moisture away from the coat, a soft breathable outer, and an S-cut hook-and-loop fastener that holds through normal walking and lying down. A colour-change wetness strip on the outside tells you when one needs swapping, which saves checking by hand. On sizing and on skin. These are sized on waist girth measured around the belly just behind the ribs, not on your dog's weight, so run a tape measure round him before choosing. Change them promptly when the strip shows, because a wet band left on causes scalding and infection quickly, especially on a long-coated dog. A band manages the mess; it does not treat the cause. Sudden incontinence, or marking that starts after years of clean habits, needs a vet.
