Cats want height for much the same reason they want a roof. A raised perch is a place to watch a room from without being in it, and in a busy household that vantage point does more for a nervous cat than any quantity of soft bedding at floor level ever will. This is a compact tree built around that idea, with sisal-wrapped posts and a cushioned perch bed sitting on top of them.

The posts are wrapped in natural sisal rather than carpet, which matters more than it sounds. Carpet teaches the wrong lesson, because a cat who learns that looped pile is for shredding will find plenty more of it on your stairs. Sisal has the coarse grain a claw catches and pulls against, and a vertical post lets a cat put a full-body stretch into the scratch instead of a half-hearted swipe. A character-topped platform sits above, across four finishes in red and light blue.

• Natural sisal-wrapped scratching posts
• Cushioned perch bed on top
• Character-topped platform above the bed
• Four finishes, across red and light blue
• Compact footprint, suited to flats or a second tree

On the size guide. We would rather translate that plainly than repeat it as though it meant something to a British buyer, and we are happy to measure the tree itself before you order.

Who it's for: Indoor cats in smaller homes who need somewhere high to sit and something proper to scratch, without giving up a corner to a full floor-to-ceiling tower.
