A treat can be marketed as gentle on digestion or it can actually be built from an easily digestible protein, and those are two different claims even when they end up on the same label.

CollaChews are made from collagen protein sourced from premium grass-fed beef, put through a hydrolysing process that breaks the protein down for easier digestion and absorption. The range comes in three flavours — beef, chicken and peanut butter — and this is the chicken one, sized at 6 inches. Being rawhide-free, it is a genuine alternative for a dog that cannot manage a traditional hide chew.

What the label does not say. No analytical percentage breakdown, weight-per-piece or minimum age is published for this listing, so there is no protein or fat figure to quote and nothing stating a suitable age band.

Who it's for: owners of a dog with a sensitive stomach, or anyone avoiding rawhide altogether, who wants a chicken-flavoured option specifically.
