A cat that hasn't been given a scratching surface it likes will find one anyway, and it's rarely the one you'd have chosen. Adding catnip to a brand-new scratcher is a way of speeding up that first introduction, rather than leaving a cat to discover it on its own timeline.

The Classic Box Cat Scratch provides a scratching surface aimed at helping cats naturally file down their claws, supporting nail health while reducing scratching elsewhere in the home. It comes with a sprinkle of catnip already applied, intended to attract a cat to it from day one, and is made from high-quality, recyclable cardboard designed to withstand enthusiastic scratching. It measures 45 x 24 x 4cm.

• Comes with catnip sprinkled on, to attract cats from day one
• Made from recyclable cardboard
• Designed for repeated, enthusiastic scratching
• 45 x 24 x 4cm
• Low-profile box format, fits in tighter spaces

One thing worth knowing. The catnip is a one-off sprinkle at the point of manufacture rather than a refillable feature, so once that first batch has worn off, it becomes a plain cardboard scratcher unless you add your own catnip separately.

Who it's for: owners of a cat that hasn't taken to a scratcher before, where the catnip head-start may help, and anyone with limited floor space who wants a low-profile box rather than a tall post.
