Two chews can be made of the exact same base material and still land completely differently with a fussy dog, purely on the strength of what they are dipped in.

This is the chicken version of the Chewllagen roll: hydrolysed collagen from grass-fed cattle hide, shaped and baked to a bread-like texture, then dipped in real chicken rather than beef. The maker describes the collagen — mainly type 1 and type 3 — as supporting cartilage, joint comfort and gut health, alongside the ordinary dental benefit that comes with chewing on anything for a while.

• Made from hydrolysed collagen, from grass-fed cattle hide

One thing worth knowing. No analytical panel or feeding guidance accompanies this listing, so there is no protein or fat percentage to quote and no stated age restriction. The joint and gut-health claims come from the manufacturer's own description of hydrolysed collagen rather than anything measured specifically for this product.

Who it's for: owners of a dog that prefers chicken to beef, or anyone rotating flavours within the Chewllagen range to keep a rawhide-free chew interesting.
