Most dogs eat the same bowl of food every single day of their adult life, which means the thing that actually matters about a everyday dog food is not any one exciting ingredient but whether it is complete, consistent, and something you can keep buying without a fuss.

Chappie is a complete dry food, developed with WALTHAM's nutritionists and vets to meet a dog's full nutritional needs from this bag alone rather than as a topper. The composition leads with cereals and whole wheat (4%), then meat and animal derivatives (15%) including chicken (4%), oils and fats, vegetable derivatives and minerals — a cereal-forward recipe rather than a meat-first one, with protein at 20% and fat at 8%.

• Complete food for adult dogs of all sizes
• Protein 20%, fat content 8%, inorganic matter 7%, crude fibres 2%
• Omega 3 fatty acids 0.15%, omega 6 fatty acids 1.98%
• Chicken (4%) among the meat and animal derivatives (15%)
• No artificial colours, flavours, added sugar, eggs or dairy
• 15KG sack

On the chicken content. The name puts chicken first, but the composition lists cereals and whole wheat ahead of the meat and animal derivatives, and chicken itself is only 4% of the total recipe — the rest of that 15% meat and animal derivatives category is unspecified. It's worth knowing before you buy on the name alone if a specific protein source matters to you.

Who it's for: owners who want a straightforward complete dry food for an adult dog of any size, and who are feeding a cereal-based recipe rather than looking for a meat-first formula.
