A small dog loose on the back seat spends the journey sliding into the footwell or scrambling for a window view, and neither is good for them or for your concentration. This booster sits them up high enough to see out, walls them in with breathable mesh, and gives them a fixed spot that does not shift when you brake. Nervous travellers often settle once they can see where they are going.

The sides are mesh on more than one face, so air moves through rather than pooling, and the frame holds its shape instead of collapsing around the dog. A built-in tether clips to a collar or harness and stops the leap into the front seat at a red light. Straps run around the vehicle seat to hold the base still through corners, and outer pockets take poo bags, a folded lead and whatever else migrates to the car door.

• 42cm x 35cm x 26cm as labelled on the manufacturer's diagram
• Product weight 1.08kg to 1.15kg
• Four colours: rose red, coffee, sky blue and black
• Breathable mesh panels on the sides
• Built-in tether to clip to a collar or harness
• Straps to the vehicle seat so it does not slide
• Outer pockets for bags, treats and a spare lead

Two things worth knowing. The 42cm x 35cm x 26cm figure comes from the manufacturer's dimension diagram rather than from our own tape measure, so measure your dog from nose to tail base and check they can turn round in that footprint before ordering. And a strapped booster with a tether is a containment aid, not a crash-tested restraint; it keeps a dog settled and out of your lap, but it is not tested to hold in an impact.

Who it's for: Owners of one small dog or a cat who travels badly, who want them raised, contained and visible on ordinary journeys.
