Indoor cats do not stop wanting to climb just because there is nowhere to climb. They simply use the bookcase, the curtain rail and the back of the sofa instead, and then get told off for it. A tall tree gives that instinct somewhere legitimate to go: height to survey the room from, coarse posts to drag claws down, and a closed box to sleep off the afternoon in.

Sisal is wrapped around the uprights for a reason. Cats scratch to strip the worn outer sheath from their claws, and they want a rough vertical surface to do it against, which is exactly why the arm of a fabric sofa appeals so much. The perches and nests are plush-lined for sleeping, the enclosed condo sits low down for cats who would rather be tucked away than on show, and the teaser balls hang where a passing paw will find them.

• Multiple levels of platforms, perches and nests
• Sisal-wrapped posts for scratching and stretching
• Enclosed condo for cats who prefer to hide
• Plush-lined resting surfaces throughout
• Dangling teaser balls for solo play
• Weighted base to keep the frame steady in use

On height and placement. A tree of this kind is also steadier stood against a wall than out in open floor, and a heavy adult cat landing on the top perch is the real test of any base.

Who it's for: Households with one or two indoor cats who are already scratching the furniture and need somewhere better, in a room with the floor space to give a full-height tree a corner of its own.
