A small animal's enclosure holds onto moisture more than most owners expect, which is why what the bedding is made from ends up mattering as much as how deep you put it.

This is made from 100% reclaimed natural fibre, using tissue and paper manufacturing off-cuts and kiln-dried Western Hemlock, Spruce, Douglas Fir and Pine wood, coloured with pet-safe dyes similar to those used in bath and facial tissue, with no harsh chemicals added. Carefresh's instruction is to apply 2-6 inches to the enclosure.

• Made from 100% reclaimed natural fibre: paper off-cuts and kiln-dried Western Hemlock, Spruce, Douglas Fir and Pine
• Coloured with pet-safe dyes similar to those in bath and facial tissue, no harsh chemicals
• Apply 2-6 inches of bedding to the enclosure
• Spot-clean soiled areas between full cleans; clean fully with warm water and soap once a week
• Suitable for hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and other small animals
• 10 litre pack, Ultra colour

On safety. Carefresh's own caution is real: there's a risk of impaction if a pet ingests a significant amount of any bedding, paper-based or not, so stop using it and see a vet if you suspect that's happened. No specific weight or age limit is given for any of the listed species.

Who it's for: owners of hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas or similar small animals who want a paper-based bedding over wood shavings.
