Carefresh's bedding is made from reclaimed natural fibre — offcuts from tissue and paper manufacturing, plus kiln-dried Western Hemlock, Spruce, Douglas Fir and Pine — coloured where relevant with pet-safe dyes similar to those used in bath and facial tissue, and made without harsh chemicals. The maker's own instruction is to lay 2-6 inches in the cage, spot-clean soiled patches between times, and do a full clean with warm water and gentle soap once a week.

The manufacturer's instruction is 2-6 inches, with spot-cleaning of soiled areas in between full cage cleans.
