Full description
A flat cardboard scratcher does two jobs. It gives a cat a horizontal surface to rake, which many cats prefer to an upright post, and once it is nicely roughed up it becomes a favourite place to lie. The drawbacks are the flakes on the floor and how quickly one pad wears through.
This version sits the pads in a printed card tray 43cm long, 26cm wide and 8cm deep. The flakes drop into the tray instead of onto the carpet, and when the top surface is worn you turn the pad over. There are three pads in the box, each usable on both sides, and they can also be taken out and laid side by side to make a bigger lounging area.
- Tray 43 x 26 x 8cm
- Three corrugated cardboard pads
- Each pad usable on both sides
- Tray catches the scraps
- Pads can be laid side by side
- Made from recycled cardboard
On size: The maker describes it as suiting small and medium cats, and the photos bear that out: an average cat fills the tray when it lies down. A large cat will scratch it happily but will overhang it as a bed. The tray is card, not plastic, so keep it somewhere dry.
Who it's for: Cats who scratch rugs and carpet rather than furniture, cats who sleep in every box that enters the house, and anyone tired of sweeping up after a loose cardboard pad.

Common questions
How long do the pads last?
It depends on the cat, but with three pads and two sides each you have six surfaces to get through. Turn or swap a pad when the surface goes soft and fluffy.
What size is it?
The tray is 43cm long, 26cm wide and 8cm deep. It suits small and medium cats as a lounger; large cats will overhang it.
Does it stop the mess?
Mostly. Scraps fall into the tray rather than onto the floor, and you tip the tray out now and then. Some flakes will still escape during an enthusiastic scratch.
Can the cardboard hurt claws?
No. Corrugated cardboard is softer than sisal and gives under the claw, which is why cats like it and why it wears out.
How long does delivery take?
Your estimated delivery date is shown above and updates automatically. UK orders are sent tracked — standard delivery is £2.99, and free on orders over £39.
How do I track my order?
As soon as your order is dispatched we email you a tracking link, so you can follow it all the way to your door.
What is it made from?
Corrugated cardboard. Full specifications are listed above.

Why we chose it
The usual complaint about cardboard scratchers is the mess and how fast they wear out. A tray that catches the scraps and three double-sided pads answers both: that is six scratching surfaces before you need another.
