Full description

Liver gets top billing on a lot of dog food names because owners like the sound of it, even when there's more of something else in the tray that doesn't get a mention.

This one is genuinely chicken-led, at 35%, with liver named second at 8%, but there's more unnamed beef (12%) in the recipe than there is liver. Protein is 8.5%, fat 5.5%, in a small single-portion tray priced at £1.00 on the pack itself.

Chicken 35%, beef 12%, liver 8%
Protein 8.5%, fat 5.5%, crude fibre 0.2%, crude ash 2%
Price-marked pack, £1.00
150G foil tray

On the name. Chicken and Liver names the two most prominent-sounding ingredients, but there's more beef (12%) in this tray than there is liver (8%), beef just doesn't make the name. Chicken is correctly the largest ingredient at 35%.

Who it's for: owners of small dogs after an easy, single-portion foil tray at a fixed printed price, rather than anyone counting on liver being the second-largest ingredient.

Why we chose it

It's genuinely chicken-forward, which most of the beef-and-liver-named cans in this range aren't. The price printed on the tray means no surprises at the till either.
