Anything sold for a nervous animal gets bought late — the afternoon of the fireworks, the morning of the drive, the week the scaffolding goes up. The question an owner most needs answered at that point is how far ahead to begin, and it is reliably the hardest thing to find on any label in this part of the shop.

This is organic hemp seed oil. Bugalugs describe it as 100% natural and enriched with omega 3, 6 and 9 along with vitamins A, D and E, and they put it forward for keeping anxious pets calm through stressful situations. They make three further claims for it beyond calm: maintaining the immune system, supporting joint and hip function, and keeping skin and coat in condition, including relief from dryness and itchiness. It comes as a 50ML bottle.

• 50ML bottle

• Contains omega 3, 6 and 9
• Contains vitamins A, D and E
• Put forward for calm during stressful situations
• Also claimed for joint and hip function, and for skin and coat

Hemp seed oil is not CBD, and nothing here claims it is. They come from the same plant and they are not the same product, they cost very different amounts, and if that is what you came looking for this is not it. Past that, Bugalugs supply us with no amount to give, no analysis, no omega figures and no guidance on how long before a stressful event to start — all of which live on the bottle rather than on this page. And an animal whose distress is severe, or new, or getting worse is a conversation with a vet rather than something to solve off a shelf.

Who it's for: owners of a pet that struggles with fireworks, car journeys or visitors and want to try something they can put on food, and anyone already buying an oil for a dry coat who would rather one bottle covered both.
