The recycled figure is quoted three different ways
On this one product, Beco's description says 100% of the plastic in the bags is post-consumer recycled, the product composition line says 98% recycled PE with 2% colouring and stabilisers, and the materials field on the trade listing says 40% post-consumer recycled. Those cannot all be true, nobody has reconciled them, and if the recycled percentage is your reason for buying then it is worth asking Beco directly rather than trusting a number here. The second thing to be clear about is that recycled is not compostable. Beco say plainly that no bag breaks down in landfill — if you compost your dog's waste in a contained home system, their compostable bag is a different product.
Why we chose it
Three hundred at a time is the cheap way to buy poo bags, and the box by the door is what stops every walk beginning with a search. Beco is one of the few names people ask for by brand in this category, which is the other half of the reason it is on the shelf. It is a light, square parcel, which makes it one of the easiest things here to post.

- Material
- PE (40% post-consumer recycled), Post-consumer recycled cardboard We all have a responsibility to clean up after our dogs. When choosing which poop bag to use, it comes down to how you dispose of your dog’s waste. Available in scented or unscented, our recycled bags are a great option for those who dispose of their dog’s poop in park bins or general waste. No bags break down in landfill so if that’s where the bag is heading, it’s best to choose recycled. Recycling gives waste plastic a second life and is 44% more energy efficient to manufacture than virgin plastic. If you dispose of your dog’s waste in a well-managed, contained home compost system, making compost for non-edible plants, we recommend our home compostable bags. Store in a cool dry place, out of reach for pets and children

Full description
Every dog owner ends up with a private ranking of poo bags, and it is decided entirely in the two seconds when you are trying to get one open in the cold with a lead in the other hand and a dog that has already moved on. Everything else about a bag is marketing; that bit is the product.
This is the roll-in-a-box format: 300 bags in a tissue-box-style dispenser that sits on a counter or by the door, so one comes out on the way past rather than being unearthed from a coat pocket. Beco make a point of the bags separating from the roll without snagging and being easy to open, and describe them as extra thick and leakproof. The plastic is post-consumer recycled PE and the box is recycled cardboard. They are also clear about where these end up: no bag breaks down in landfill, so these are for a general waste or park bin rather than a compost heap.
- 300 bags on a grab-and-go roll
- Tissue-box style countertop dispenser
- Unscented
- Post-consumer recycled PE, in a post-consumer recycled cardboard box
- Described as extra thick, big and leakproof
- For general waste and park bins — not for home composting

Who it's for: anyone walking a dog every day who wants a box by the door instead of a roll rattling loose in a pocket, and owners who bin the bag in a park bin and want a recycled bag rather than a compostable one that will not compost there.

Common questions
How many bags do I get?
300, on a roll inside a countertop dispenser box.
Are they scented?
No, this is the unscented version. Beco list a minty scented version as a separate product.
Are they compostable?
No. They are recycled plastic, intended for general waste and park bins. Beco's own point is that no bag breaks down in landfill, which is the argument for recycled rather than for compostable.
How much recycled content is in them?
The published figures disagree with each other: the description says 100% of the plastic is post-consumer recycled, the composition line says 98% recycled PE with 2% colouring and stabilisers, and the trade listing says 40%. We would rather flag that than pick one.
Do these ones have handles?
No. Beco list a handled version separately.
