A poo bag almost never fails in the middle. It fails at the knot, in the cold, with one hand full and a lead in the other — which is why handles are a better feature than any amount of extra thickness.

Beco's answer is a bag with easy-tie handles, made thick and leakproof, dispensed one at a time from a recycled cardboard box rather than pulled off a roll. They are unscented, which is the version to choose if perfume in a bag bothers you. Beco are clear about disposal too: these are recycled bags for the general waste or a park bin, not compostable ones, and they point their own home-compostable range at anyone with a contained compost system.

On the recycled figure. Beco give three different numbers for the same thing on the same sheet: the materials line says PE with 40% post-consumer recycled content, the marketing line says 100% of the plastic in the bags is post-consumer recycled, and the composition line says 98% recycled PE with 2% colouring and stabilisers. We have no way of telling you which is right, and we are not going to pick the flattering one. What is not in dispute is that they are not biodegradable or compostable.

Who it's for: anyone who bins in a park bin or the general waste and would rather the plastic be recycled than virgin, and people who have had a knot fail once and are not doing it again.

Are they scented?

No. This is the unscented version. Beco make a minty one separately.

Are they compostable or biodegradable?

No. Beco are explicit that these are recycled bags for the general waste bin, and point their home compostable range at anyone with a contained composting system.

How much recycled content is in them?

Beco quote three different figures on the same sheet: 40% post-consumer recycled PE on the materials line, 100% of the plastic on the marketing line, and 98% recycled PE with 2% colouring and stabilisers on the composition line. We cannot tell you which is correct.

Do they have handles?

Yes. Every bag has easy-tie handles, which is the main difference from a plain roll.

How do they come out of the box?
