Full description
Tear staining shows up worst on a white or pale coat, which is exactly why the products aimed at it are usually formulated and marketed with that coat colour specifically in mind.
This is a tear stain remover built around disodium tetraborate at 2%, applied by saturating a cotton wool ball and gently cleaning around the eye and the stained fur. Beaphar say it also works on brown discolouration between the toes and around the mouth, not just around the eyes.
- 50ML bottle
- Disodium tetraborate 2%
- For use on white or light coloured cats and dogs
- Also treats staining between the toes and around the mouth
- Use within 3 months of opening
One thing worth knowing. Beaphar say to use it within 3 months of opening and to store it below 25C away from sunlight, so this isn't a product to buy in bulk and leave in a cupboard for occasional use — check the opening date if it's been sitting around.
Who it's for: owners of a white or light-coloured cat or dog with visible tear staining, or brown staining between the toes or around the mouth.

Why we chose it
Naming the active ingredient and its exact percentage is more transparency than a lot of these products offer, which is why we trust the label. Working on toe and mouth staining as well as tear staining makes it more useful than a single-purpose eye product.
