A muzzled dog that cannot pant is a dog in worse trouble than the one the muzzle was meant to prevent, which is why every part of a basket design exists to keep the mouth open rather than shut.

The Ultra Muzzle is made from thermoplastic rubber (TPR), a material that can be reshaped by holding it in hot tap water for two minutes, moulding it by hand, then setting the new shape in cold water — a fit adjustment you can redo as needed, though Company of Animals note the material gradually returns to its original shape over time. The basket design lets a dog pant, drink and take treats while it is worn, and it can be fitted with an optional collar loop or headstrap for extra security.

• Thermoplastic rubber (TPR) construction, heat-reshapeable for a custom fit
• Basket design: dog can pant, drink and take treats while wearing it
• Reshape in hot tap water for 2 minutes, set the shape in cold water
• Suited to vet visits, groomer appointments, public transport and walks
• Optional collar loop and headstrap attachments available
• Supervision required whenever it is worn

On wearing time. Company of Animals say this design can be worn for longer than a traditional muzzle, but their own guidance still stops short of recommending extended wear unless it is genuinely necessary, and a dog must be supervised throughout. No girth or length measurements are supplied against the size codes, so fitting is a matter of trying the size against your own dog rather than reading it off a chart.

Who it's for: owners who need a muzzle their dog can wear through a stressful appointment or a busy walk without losing the ability to pant, drink or take a treat — and who are prepared to reshape it at home rather than expect an off-the-shelf fit.
