A dental chew earns its place by what it actually contains for cleaning teeth, not by the word "dental" on the front, and the ingredient doing that specific job here is a named mineral, not a vague claim.

Arden Grange's Dental Sticks Mint & Superfoods are built on potato flour, potato starch, glycerine and cellulose, with sodium hexametaphosphate at 0.5% — the ingredient Arden Grange credit with helping reduce plaque and tartar. Mint oil is added at 490mg/kg, alongside small amounts of dried blueberry, dried pomegranate, coconut oil and spirulina.

• 7 sticks per pack
• Sodium hexametaphosphate (0.5%), for plaque and tartar control
• Mint oil at 490mg/kg
• Protein 2.5%, fat content 1.5%, crude fibre 4.5%
• Plant-based, grain-free recipe

On sizing the daily amount. Arden Grange's own guide is half a stick a day for a small dog (2.5-15kg), one stick for a medium dog (15-30kg) and two for a large dog (30-60kg) — worth checking against your dog's actual weight rather than giving a whole stick regardless of size, since these are a daily treat, not an unlimited one.

Who it's for: a dog owner adding daily dental maintenance to their routine, rather than someone looking for an occasional chew treat.
