Household cleaners are formulated for kitchen surfaces, and the pathogens that circulate where animals live are a different problem entirely: hardier, spread on floors and bedding, and quite capable of surviving a wipe with something scented from under the sink. That gap is why veterinary-grade disinfectants exist at all, and why kennels, catteries and rescues buy them five litres at a time rather than in a spray bottle.

This is a concentrate rather than a ready-to-use spray, which is what makes five litres a sensible quantity, since it is diluted before use and a single container covers a great deal of floor. The formulation combines biocidal actives chosen for animal environments and is designed to keep working in the conditions those places actually present, rather than only on a clean dry surface. Two things before you order. Our earlier description mentioned an unfragranced version, and only the four scented options are actually available here, so we have corrected that rather than leave it standing. Second, a concentrate is only as safe as its dilution: follow the ratio printed on the container, keep animals off treated surfaces until they are properly dry, and never mix it with another cleaning product.
