Ancol's guidance is to check the collar, fastenings and stitching regularly for wear, and to make sure you can comfortably fit two fingers between the collar and your dog's neck. They do not give a shortened wear-check interval for a collar that gets wet often, so do not assume the usual checking schedule is enough if your dog swims most days.

- Wrap a soft tape around the base of the neck.
- Add room for two fingers between the tape and the neck.
- Use that measurement to pick a size whose range it falls within.

A collar that's fine for a dry Sunday walk and struggles the first time a dog goes in a lake isn't really an all-weather collar, whatever the packaging says. The Viva range is built with actual swimming in mind, not just rain.
Ancol's Viva Adjustable collar uses a durable poly-weave webbing with a quick-fit and release buckle, and comes in three colours and three adjustable sizes - small (20-30cm), medium (30-50cm) and large (45-70cm) - all covered on this page.
