Full description
The stretch of a walk that goes wrong is usually the last twenty minutes of it, once the light has gone and a dog in dark fur becomes invisible from the far side of a road.
This is Ancol's Reflective Star Lead: a 1m nylon lead, 19mm wide, with a reflective finish woven along its length rather than a separate clip-on flasher. The nylon base is built to cope with wet weather, and Ancol rate the lead to a maximum working weight of 50kg.
- 1m length, 19mm width
- Reflective finish along the full length
- Hardwearing nylon base for wet-weather walking
- Maximum rated weight 50kg
- Matching Ancol collar sold separately
On sizing: Ancol publish one length for this lead - 1m - with no shorter or longer version listed, so it suits a dog that walks close rather than one that likes to range further out. There's no mention of a padded handle either, so a dog pulling anywhere near the 50kg limit will pull hard on your hand as well as the lead.
Who it's for: owners who walk at dusk or through winter evenings and want the lead itself doing some of the visibility work, on a dog under the 50kg limit.

Why we chose it
A reflective strip woven into the webbing rather than stitched on as an afterthought is the sensible way to buy visibility, and it costs no more than a plain lead. The 50kg rating covers everything up to a big dog on this shop, which is one less thing to check before you buy.
