Full description
An owner who wears something reflective on a dark walk has covered themselves; the metre or so of space between them and the dog on the end of the lead is still just as unlit unless something out there catches the light too.
This is Ancol's Reflective Bone lead: a hardwearing nylon base with a reflective finish built into the design itself, rather than a strip stuck on afterward. It measures 1m by 19mm and carries a maximum recommended weight of 50kg.
- Reflective design built into the nylon base
- Measures 1m x 19mm
- Maximum recommended weight 50kg
- Hardwearing, suited to all weathers
- Matching collars available
On what reflective actually means here. Ancol describe the reflective element as part of the lead's design rather than a separate strip, but they don't give us a visibility distance or a brightness rating for it - so treat it as a genuine improvement over a plain nylon lead rather than a guarantee of how far away a driver or cyclist will spot it.
Who it's for: owners who walk regularly in low light and want the lead itself doing some of the work, on a dog whose weight sits within the 50kg rating.

Why we chose it
A lead is the part of the walk furthest from the owner's own hi-vis, so reflective detail on the lead covers a gap that a coat or collar alone doesn't. It's a straightforward, no-frills way to add that without buying a separate light.
