Size guide & how to measure
Collars are sized by the neck girth — the measurement around the base of the neck where the collar will sit.
How to measure
- Wrap a soft tape around the base of the neck.
- Add room for two fingers between the tape and the neck.
- Use that measurement to pick a size whose range it falls within.
| Size | Typical neck girth | Rough guide |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 20–28 cm | Toy breeds |
| S | 26–36 cm | Small dogs |
| M | 34–48 cm | Medium dogs |
| L | 46–60 cm | Large dogs |
| XL | 58–72 cm | Giant breeds |
Ranges are approximate and vary by style. Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact measurements.
Full description
The moment you're most likely to fumble a collar buckle is rarely a quiet one - it's usually keys in one hand, a lead in the other, and a dog already circling by the door. A clasp that doesn't need two hands and full attention changes what that moment looks like.
Ancol's Heritage Magnetic Collar replaces the usual buckle with a secure magnetic clasp that snaps together with minimal hand strength, which Ancol also design to help owners with arthritis or reduced hand mobility. This is the medium size, styled in a classic countryside look with a D-ring for lead attachment.
- Magnetic clasp fastening
- Medium size
- Designed for easy use with limited hand strength
- Countryside-style design
- Spot clean with water, air dry fully before storing
- Matching Heritage Spin Lock Lead available
On the size name. Ancol give this collar as Medium rather than a centimetre range on the information we have, so there's no exact neck measurement to check it against - if your dog is borderline between sizes, it's worth comparing against a collar you already own rather than guessing from the size name alone.
Who it's for: owners who want fastening to be one less thing to think about on the way out the door, whether that's down to arthritis, cold hands, or just having too much else in them at once.

Why we chose it
We stock the medium alongside the large because the clasp is the whole point of this collar, and a size gap would mean turning away exactly the owners it's designed to help. It's also one of the few collars where the accessibility feature is real rather than a word on the packaging.
