A 50cm neck falls inside both the 30-50cm size and the 45-70cm one, and anything in that shared stretch could sensibly be either — so measure first and take the size that puts your dog in the middle of a range rather than at either end, since a collar at the very top of its adjustment has nowhere left to go. Ancol publish no width, no buckle material and no D-ring rating on this line, which is worth knowing if you have a dog that pulls: a fashion collar is not the thing to trust a strong dog to, and a harness is.

How to measure
- Wrap a soft tape around the base of the neck.
- Add room for two fingers between the tape and the neck.
- Use that measurement to pick a size whose range it falls within.

Ancol print an instruction on the packaging that almost nobody follows: check the fit of your dog's collar every day. It is there because a collar is the only thing a dog wears constantly, and constant is exactly the condition under which people stop looking at something.
This one is from the Soho range, made from 100% recycled fabric in a daisy print, and built to be worn in all weathers. Three sizes cover 20-30cm, 30-50cm and 45-70cm of neck. Ancol's fitting rule is the two-finger gap — two fingers between the collar and the dog's neck when it is done up. The wider Soho collection runs to matching leads, reversible harnesses and, if you want to take it that far, hair scrunchies and poop bag dispensers in the same print.
