Size guide & how to measure
Collars are sized by the neck girth — the measurement around the base of the neck where the collar will sit.
How to measure
- Wrap a soft tape around the base of the neck.
- Add room for two fingers between the tape and the neck.
- Use that measurement to pick a size whose range it falls within.
| Size | Typical neck girth | Rough guide |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 20–28 cm | Toy breeds |
| S | 26–36 cm | Small dogs |
| M | 34–48 cm | Medium dogs |
| L | 46–60 cm | Large dogs |
| XL | 58–72 cm | Giant breeds |
Ranges are approximate and vary by style. Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact measurements.
Full description
A collar that rubs is a collar a dog will scratch at constantly, and the fix is almost always padding rather than a different buckle or a different colour.
Ancol's Air Hold Collar pairs a nylon outer with a layer of neoprene padding underneath, which sits against the dog's neck to stop the webbing rubbing while the nylon itself carries the load and resists the weather. It closes with a satin-finish buckle and heat-sealed buckle holes, with a D-ring for the lead.
- Nylon outer with a neoprene lining
- Satin-finish buckle
- Heat-sealed buckle holes
- D-ring for lead attachment
- Available in black, blue, red and raspberry

Who it's for: owners who want a straightforward buckled collar with some padding built in, rather than a hook-and-loop fastening, and who like having a matching lead available in the same range.

Why we chose it
A satin buckle rather than hook-and-loop is a small preference some owners specifically ask for, and the neoprene lining is doing real work rather than being decorative padding. Ancol sell matching leads in the same colours, which makes it easy to buy the two together.
