Size guide & how to measure
Collars are sized by the neck girth — the measurement around the base of the neck where the collar will sit.
How to measure
- Wrap a soft tape around the base of the neck.
- Add room for two fingers between the tape and the neck.
- Use that measurement to pick a size whose range it falls within.
| Size | Typical neck girth | Rough guide |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 20–28 cm | Toy breeds |
| S | 26–36 cm | Small dogs |
| M | 34–48 cm | Medium dogs |
| L | 46–60 cm | Large dogs |
| XL | 58–72 cm | Giant breeds |
Ranges are approximate and vary by style. Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact measurements.
Full description
A dog that likes tradition doesn't care, but plenty of owners do, and a proper tartan pattern rather than a printed check is one of the details that separates a collar people actually choose from one they settle for.
Ancol's Indulgence Fashion Tartan Collar is made from printed polyester and nylon strapping, materials chosen for being strong, lightweight, durable and flexible rather than stiff or heavy. It closes with a quick-release buckle, has an adjuster for a precise fit, and finishes with a sturdy plastic D-ring for lead attachment. This page covers the collar in blue and red, sized 45-70cm.

On sizing. This page covers the 45-70cm size specifically; Ancol make this collar in other sizes too, so check your dog's neck measurement rather than assuming this range fits — a collar sized for a large dog will sit loose and unsafe on a smaller one.
Who it's for: owners of a dog with a 45-70cm neck who want a proper tartan pattern in blue or red, and a quick-release buckle for easy on and off.

Why we chose it
A printed tartan on polyester and nylon holds up to daily wear far better than a woven fabric collar does, and the quick-release buckle is a genuinely useful feature rather than an add-on. Blue and red are also the two colours we get asked for most from this range.
