There is a stage with an old dog or a recovering cat where the walk still does them good but the distance does not. Left at home they lose the outing entirely; pushed to keep up they pay for it the next day. A stroller lets the animal come along and spend the walk resting, which is usually the version everyone wanted anyway.

The frame is built pram-style, with swivel front wheels that turn in a shop aisle and around a kerb rather than fighting you, and a single pedal that locks the brake so you are not holding the handle with one hand while opening a door with the other. The carriage is panelled in mesh, which does two jobs at once: air moves through it on a warm day, and the animal inside can see out. Being able to see out is what settles a nervous pet, far more than padding does. It folds in one motion for the boot.

• One-pedal brake
• Swivel front wheels for kerbs and tight turns
• Mesh-panelled carriage for airflow and a clear view out
• One-motion fold for the car boot or hallway
• Two colourways, black and beige

On sizing: Either way, measure your pet from nose to the base of the tail while they are lying stretched out, because body length decides whether an animal fits a stroller. Weight is the number everyone quotes and the one that tells you least.

Who it's for: Owners of cats and smaller dogs who are elderly, recovering or easily overwhelmed, and who still want them out of the house.
