NW Classic dog food
NW Classic is a straightforward working dog food range: five plain proteins, sold in the same run of pack sizes from a small trial bag up to a 12kg sack, plus two puppy recipes. We stock a selection from the range as one of the everyday dry foods on our shelves, alongside the bigger names either side of it.
You might also want to browse anti-gulp dog bowls and lick mats.
What NW Classic actually is
NW Classic sits at the everyday end of the dry dog food market rather than the premium shelf. The range is built around single proteins rather than blends — chicken, beef, lamb, salmon and fish each get their own bag — so there is no mystery about what your dog is actually eating, even if the label does not carry the extras a boutique brand might list.
Pack sizes run the same ladder across most of the range: from a few hundred grams up to a 12kg sack, which is the format working and multi-dog households tend to look for rather than a bag sized for one small dog eating a little at a time. Two further recipes are aimed specifically at puppies, sized and named for that stage rather than adapted from an adult bag.
The range we stock, and who it suits
Our shelves currently carry the core Work Dog recipes in salmon, fish, chicken, lamb and beef, the smaller Work Lamb bag for trying the range before committing to a full sack, and a further adult recipe alongside them. Puppy owners have two dedicated options — one carrying the same working chicken recipe scaled for a growing dog, and one general puppy formula.
This is a brand for owners who want a plain, no-frills dry food rather than a boutique diet with a long ingredient story, particularly if you are feeding a dog that works for a living, gets walked hard every day, or if there is more than one mouth to feed and a small bag would not last a week. As with any dry food, what matters most is whether the specific recipe and size suit your own dog rather than the brand name on the sack.
Introducing a new food
If you are switching from another dry food, mix NW Classic in gradually over a week or so rather than swapping the bag over in one go — it gives your dog's stomach time to adjust and makes it easier to spot whether a particular recipe agrees with them. This matters more with a working or very active dog, who often eats more than a lower-energy dog its size.
Watch how your dog does on a bag before buying the largest sack: energy, coat and how firm their stools are say more about whether a recipe suits them than the ingredients list on its own. If anything looks off and does not settle within a few days, mention it to your vet rather than persisting with a food that clearly does not agree with them.

Common questions
- Is NW Classic a complete food?
- The Work Dog recipes are everyday dry foods rather than ones marketed with a long list of boutique extras, and each bag states its own feeding guidance on the pack. If you are ever unsure whether a specific recipe needs feeding alongside anything else, the pack label is the place to check, not the brand name.
- What sizes does NW Classic come in?
- Most of the adult recipes run from a small bag up to a 12kg sack, with the Work Lamb recipe also available in a compact 300g size if you want to try it before buying a full sack. Puppy recipes are sized differently, so check the specific pack rather than assuming it matches the adult ladder.
- Do you stock the whole NW Classic range?
- No. We stock a selection from the wider NW Classic range rather than every recipe or size the brand makes. What you see in the grid on this page is what is currently available to order, and that changes as stock does.
- What if my dog doesn't get on with a new food?
- Introduce any new food gradually alongside what they are already eating, over several days rather than switching overnight, and keep an eye on their appetite, energy and stools. If a change does not settle within a few days or your dog seems unwell, speak to your vet rather than continuing with a food that clearly is not agreeing with them.
