Frontline Spot On
Frontline Spot On is one of the best-known spot-on flea treatments for dogs and cats, applied directly to the skin rather than given by mouth. We carry it for both dogs and cats, in single pipettes and in packs of three or six, alongside the separate Frontline Plus range and a Frontline wormer for dogs.

What's in the range
Our Frontline range includes Spot on Dog and Spot on Cat in single and multi-pipette packs, the Frontline Plus line for dogs in small, medium and large sizes, Frontline Plus for cats, and a separate Frontline Wormer for Dog. Each product is sized by species and, for dogs, by weight band, so picking the right pack for your pet's size matters.
A spot-on treatment is applied to the skin, usually at the back of the neck where a pet can't easily lick it off, following the instructions printed on the pack for your pet's exact weight. Always check the packaging matches your pet's species and weight before using it — a product sized or formulated for a dog should never be used on a cat.
Making it part of a routine
Flea and worm treatment works best as a regular routine rather than something reached for only once fleas are already a problem, since treating an established infestation takes longer and is more disruptive than staying ahead of it. Follow the frequency stated on the specific product you're using, since this varies between the Spot on and Plus ranges.
If your pet has a reaction to any spot-on treatment, or you're unsure which product or size is right for a pet with a health condition, pregnancy, or a very young age, speak to your vet before applying anything.
Storing and using it correctly
Keep any spot-on treatment somewhere your pet and children can't reach it, in its original packaging, and check the use-by date before applying an older pipette that has been sitting in a cupboard. A product past its date is not something to rely on, even if it looks unchanged.
Avoid bathing your pet for the period stated on the pack either side of applying a spot-on treatment, since washing too soon can reduce how well it works. The exact timing is printed on the packaging and varies between products in the range.

Common questions
- Can I use Frontline for dogs on my cat?
- No. Products formulated for dogs must never be used on cats, and using the wrong species' product can be seriously harmful. Always check the packaging is specifically for your pet's species before applying anything.
- How do I apply a Frontline spot-on treatment?
- Follow the instructions printed on the pack exactly, which will explain where and how to apply it for your pet's species and size. If you're at all unsure, your vet or a vet nurse can show you how to do it correctly the first time.
- What's the difference between Frontline Spot On and Frontline Plus?
- They are separate products within the same range, and the exact difference in what each treats is detailed on the individual product's own packaging. Check the specific product description for what it covers before choosing between them.
- How often does my pet need treating?
- This depends on the specific product, and the frequency is stated on the pack. Speak to your vet if you're unsure how often to treat your pet, especially if they have a health condition or you're treating a puppy or kitten.
