A Jack Russell does not need a food branded specifically for the breed, but its combination of small size, high energy and a well-known tendency to pile on weight if under-exercised makes a few things worth checking: a properly sized small-breed kibble, sensible portion control, and some thought given to dental care given how commonly small terriers develop tartar.
A small, energetic breed with a weight tendency
Jack Russells are famously energetic and can seem to need a large amount of food to match, but the breed is also widely known among owners and vets for gaining weight easily if that energy is not matched by proper exercise. A food formulated for small or active breeds, fed to a measured portion rather than free access, is a more reliable way to manage this than trusting appetite alone.
