Pet coats and jumpers are sized mainly by back length, with chest girth as a second check. Back length matters most for coverage.
How to measure
- Back length: measure along the spine from the base of the neck (collar area) to the base of the tail.
- Chest: measure around the widest part of the ribcage, behind the front legs.
- If the two measurements suggest different sizes, choose by back length and allow for the chest.

Seven sizes is unusual at this price, and the range matters far more than the pattern does. Most festive jumpers start at small, which leaves the Chihuahua owner buying something that hangs off the shoulders and the Dachshund owner buying something that stops halfway down the back. This one starts at XXS and finishes at XXL, so dogs at both ends of the scale get something that sits where it should.
The knit is acrylic. That is worth stating plainly rather than glossing over: it is warm, it holds its shape, it washes without felting, and it is an indoor and short-walk layer rather than weather protection. Rain goes straight through a knit and then stays in it. If your dog needs to be dry as well as warm, this goes underneath a coat, not instead of one.
