Full description

A treat that is the same shape and colour every time gets ignored eventually, which is presumably why small-animal treats come in so many flavours for what is, underneath, the same cereal shell.

Nibblots Tropical is a crispy cereal shell around a cream, pineapple-flavoured centre, built with pineapple powder and 4% fruit, alongside wheat flour, canola oil and corn starch. It is labelled a Complementary Pet Food, meant as a between-meals treat rather than any part of the main diet.

Fruit 4% (pineapple)
Protein 13.3%, crude fibres 1.8%, crude oils and fats 25.9%, crude ash 1.5%, moisture 6.7%
Omega-3 and omega-6 combined 4.4%
Hamsters and mice 1 a day, rats 1-2, guinea pigs and gerbils up to 2, rabbits up to 5
2.8 kcal per treat
30G pack

On the fruit content. The name is Tropical and the flavour is pineapple, but the fruit itself is 4% of the recipe — the bulk is wheat flour, canola oil and corn starch, the same as every flavour in the Nibblots range. It is a treat built for flavour, not a fruit supplement.

Who it's for: owners of rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils or rats who want a species-specific daily treat allowance rather than guessing portion size.

Why we chose it

The per-species feeding guide is the reason to pick this over a generic small-animal treat. One a day for a hamster and up to five for a rabbit is a real difference, and most bags do not bother to say so.
