Full description

An apple-flavoured treat and an apple-based treat are two different products, and the only way to tell which one you are holding is the ingredients list rather than the name on the front.

This one is flavour-led: apple powder and natural apple flavour sit inside a cereal shell over wheat flour, canola oil and corn starch, with the fruit itself making up 4% of the recipe. It is a Complementary Pet Food, meant as a between-meals treat rather than a meal.

Fruit 4% (apple)
Protein 12.8%, crude fibres 2.6%, crude oils and fats 22.4%, crude ash 2.2%, moisture 12.8%
Omega-3 and omega-6 combined 4.4%
Hamsters and mice 1 a day, rats 1-2, guinea pigs and gerbils up to 2, rabbits up to 5
30G pack

On the apple content. Apple gives this treat its name and its flavour, but it is 4% of the recipe — the bulk is the same wheat flour, oil and corn starch base as every other Nibblots flavour. If you are after something closer to actual dried fruit, this isn't quite that.

Who it's for: owners of rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils or rats who want an apple-flavoured treat with a clear daily allowance per species.

Why we chose it

The per-species feeding guide is what earns this a place on the shelf over a generic treat. A rabbit gets up to five a day and a hamster gets one, and that distinction matters more than the flavour does.
