Leads are chosen by length and width rather than your pet’s body size. Pick the width to suit your pet’s strength and the length to suit how you walk.
How to measure
- Width: lighter, narrower webbing for small dogs; wider, thicker webbing for strong pullers and larger dogs.
- Standard lead (1.2–1.5 m): everyday pavement walks and training.
- Long line (3–10 m): recall practice and open spaces.
- Short / traffic lead (under 1 m): close control in busy areas.
| Length | Best for |
|---|---|
| Under 1 m | Traffic / close control |
| 1.2–1.5 m | Everyday walks (most popular) |
| 1.8–2 m | Relaxed walks, more freedom |
| 3 m + | Recall training, open spaces |
Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact length and width.

Full description
The detail that decides whether a winter coat gets used is the hole at the neck. Without one, every walk starts with unclipping the lead, threading a collar back through a coat, and doing the whole thing again in the rain at the other end. This has a lead opening built into the neck, so the coat goes on over the collar and the lead clips straight through it.
It is a padded polyester shell rather than a knit, so it holds warmth against the body and keeps the worst of the weather off, and the hood covers the head and ears - the part of a short-coated dog that goes cold first on a January field. Poppers close it rather than a zip, which is quicker with cold hands, and the waist and leg edges are elasticated so it does not ride up when the dog runs.
- Padded polyester with a hood covering head and ears
- Lead hole at the neck
- Popper fastenings, elasticated edges at waist and legs
- Six sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL
- Single-sided in red or army green, double-sided in red or blue
- Weighs around 200g
Check the measurement first. The maker lists six sizes but the centimetre table it refers to is not actually published, and we will not quote figures we cannot verify. Send us your dog's back length from collar to tail base and its chest girth behind the front legs and we will measure the coat before dispatch. Worth knowing too that plenty of dogs dislike a hood over the ears - it can simply stay down.
Who it's for: short-coated and small dogs facing a British winter - Teddy types, terriers, older dogs who stiffen in the cold - and anyone tired of unclipping the lead to get a coat on.
