Full description
Letting a dog range further than a lead allows, without it having the run of an unfenced garden, is the specific gap a tie-out fills — not a replacement for supervision, but a way to give a dog more room to move while you are out there with it.
Smart Choice's Tie Out Cable & Stake pairs a strong stainless steel spiral stake, 42cm long, with a 5 metre weather-resistant, PVC-coated cable designed to resist tangling. The stake screws into the ground, and a D-ring clip on the cable attaches to your dog's collar. It is rated to a maximum weight of 40kg, and is available in red or grey.

On supervision. A tie-out is not a fencing replacement, and Smart Choice's own design assumes a stake screwed securely into firm ground — a stake in loose or wet soil will not hold as reliably. We would not leave a dog on any tie-out unsupervised.
Who it's for: owners wanting to give a dog more range than a hand-held lead during supervised outdoor time — camping, the garden, or anywhere without secure fencing — for dogs up to 40kg.

Why we chose it
5 metres of cable rated to 40kg covers most dogs without needing a heavier-duty version, and a stainless steel stake rather than a plastic peg is the detail that decides whether it actually stays in the ground on a windy day. It packs small enough to keep in the car for trips away.
