It is a way of finding a cat who has shut himself in a neighbour's shed, or working out which field a dog headed for after slipping the lead. Bluetooth tags work by pinging every passing Apple device, which in a town means a great many of them and on an open moor means none at all. Know which of those you live in.

This tag pairs through Apple's Find My network and comes with a lanyard for clipping onto a collar or harness. It is rated IP65 for water and dust, which covers rain and wet grass rather than a swim, and it runs on a replaceable battery rather than a sealed one, so a year of standby ends in a coin cell rather than a new tag. It is slim and light enough not to swing about on a small dog's collar.

• Works with the Apple Find My network
• IP65 water and dust resistance
• Replaceable battery, up to 365 days standby
• Lanyard included for collar or harness
• Slim, lightweight body
• Four colours: pink, white, yellow and green

Two things worth knowing. Separately, Find My tags need phones nearby to report a position, so they are far weaker in remote countryside, and none of them replaces a microchip.

Who it's for: Owners in towns and suburbs who want a quick way to narrow down where a wandering cat or an escaped dog has got to.
