Small pets need salt and minerals in their diet just as much as any other nutrient, but a plain mineral block sitting in the corner of a cage often gets ignored in favour of the food bowl.

Small 'N' Furry's Carrot Salt Lick is shaped like a carrot for what the maker calls consumer appeal, and comes with a free holder designed to clip onto any wire cage. It also has a pre-drilled hole so it can be fitted to a K-bob dispenser instead if you already use one.

• Carrot-shaped salt lick
• Includes a free holder that fits any wire cage
• Pre-drilled hole for use with a K-bob dispenser
• Fruit flavoured
• Suitable for all small animals

What's not on the card. the maker doesn't give us a weight or a mineral breakdown for this lick, so we can't say how long one lasts or exactly what it contains beyond it being fruit flavoured.

Who it's for: owners of any small animal wanting a mineral supplement that's more likely to actually get used than an unflavoured block, thanks to the fruit flavouring.
