Full description

Cutting a claw too short hurts in exactly the same way regardless of the animal's size, and a small pet's claw gives you less room to get it wrong - there's less claw there to work with before you reach the quick.

Ancol's Just 4 Pets nail clippers are 12cm long, with a comfortable non-slip handle and a semi-circular groove cut into the blade so you can see how much claw you're about to remove before you commit to the cut.

For small pets

On using them for the first time. Ancol's own advice is that only the very end of the claw should be cut, to avoid the quick, and that long nails are better trimmed a little every few days than tackled in one go, to encourage the quick to recede naturally. If you haven't trimmed your pet's claws before, they also recommend getting guidance from a vet or groomer the first time rather than learning on your own pet.

Who it's for: owners of rabbits, guinea pigs and other small pets who want to keep on top of claw length themselves, rather than a vet visit every time.

Ancol Small Animal Nail Clipper

Why we chose it

Being able to see the cut before you make it is the actual useful feature here - the groove in the blade is what turns guesswork about the quick into something visible. At this price it's an easy thing to have in the cupboard rather than something you go without until you need it.
